Students visit construction site in Ghent

In addition to internships and studentjobs, Wyckaert invites on a regular base schools to come and visit some of our construction sites. We believe it is important to give young people the opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Construction site visit

On December 4 and 11, the students of Odisee Aalst visited the construction site located at the Watersportbaan in Ghent. There we are building an office building with 400 workplaces for an international player in the field of social administration and HR. The works include structural work, finishing, techniques and environmental design.

The project in a few key figures:

Surface areas: 7000 m3 basement + 10,000 m2 offices
Earthmoving: 30,000 m3
Concrete volume: 9 500 m3 (10 m3 per mixer)
Weight of reinforcement: 1 000 tonnes (20 tonnes per truck)



A passive building with a BREEAM certification was opted for. BREEAM stands for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method. It is an assessment method to determine the sustainability performance of buildings.
